Murray Fulton's paper is very thoughtful, ana- lytical, and of interest to those of us who spend time thinking about where cooperatives "fit." I disagree with some of his basic assumptions and conclusions, but the exercise of arriving at this position was worthwhile. Mike Cook draws upon a broad geographic and historic perspec- tive relative to cooperative development. Al- though one final step is missing in his analysis, Cook's paper is very useful in predicting the fu- ture of cooperatives. My summary, interpreta- tions, and reactions follow.
