Abstract: Examines the role of trade unions in four medium-sized industrial producer cooperatives (PC) in Great Britain. Brief historical background of the PC and their formal authority structure; Pay and division of labor; Traditional union functions; Association of marked differences in the formal and de facto roles of unions in the four PC to differences in pay and division of labor antedating the formation of these PC.
