Ownership Structure in Agrifood Chains: The Marketing Cooperative
作者:     来源:中国农民合作社研究网     日期:2012-03-18  浏览:127

Abstract:The article discusses different financing methods used by U.S. wheat producers post World War I. Experts say the financial troubles associated with wheat production can be attributed to the grain's increased demand during the War and its price fluctuations during and after it. The U.S. government passed legislation which empowered the U.S. Grain Corporation to issue seed loans to farmers in the northwest region of the country. In 1923 the Agriculture Credit Act was passed to provide short-term intermediate credit for the producers. Some states employed the use of marketing cooperatives to improve the marketing efforts and financially assist wheat growers.
