Abstract

　　The economics of all nations is dependent on the sophistication of vital land resources directly or indirectly. Nigerian agricultural production is in the hands of numerous small scale farmers who have land holdings < 5ha. Agricultural productivity can be improved and increased if the Nigerian Agricultural cooperative and rural Development Bank helps in disbursing loans at the right time to this resource poor farmers so as to meet their needs. This study examined the performance of financial services for Agricultural production in Ogun State: A case study of Abeokuta Branch of Nigerian Agricultural Cooperative and Rural Development Bank (NACRDB). Primary data were obtained from thirty-two (32) beneficiaries and thirty-two (32) non beneficiaries of the micro-credit scheme by administering well structured questionnaire. Regression analysis and difference of means were used to analyze the data collected.

　　The regression analysis showed that only the volume of loans requested for by the clients (X1) had significant effect on the volume of loans disbursed while other factors such as age of farmer (X2), farm size (X3) educational level of farmer (X4) and farming experience (X5) had no effect on the volume of loans disbursed. Only X1 was significant at 1% (0.01a level) the difference of means revealed that there was a significant difference between the maize output of beneficiaries and non beneficiaries.
